How we do what we do.
Build strength, stamina and flexibility so you can
become the ultimate stunt combat performer.
This is not meant to be an exhaustive or complete disclosure of our training methods. We only want to show you the basics that everyone will learn.
We are very jealous of our secrets.
Couch potatoes need not apply!
Training Basics
Stretch
If you want to practice with us, you must stretch before we start. Our trainers will lead you through our basic stretching routine. Afterwards, we perform some simple conditioning exercises to help develop the muscle groups that will help you in stunt combat.
Don't worry! We'll help you get into shape for stunt combat. Even if you've never done it before.
Stance
At the root of any combat system is the stance. A good stance increases your strength, stability and balance. It also allows you total freedom of movement. Martial artists will recognize this variation of the horse stance.
Intensity
A good stance also conveys strong intensity to your audiences. It conveys tension and aggressiveness. It sends a very clear signal that "I know what I am doing and I am going to kick your ass."
Safety
A good stance will also keep you from getting hurt. It takes some getting used to but once you are trained, you can hold this stance indefinitely. By keeping a low center of gravity you reduce the likelihood of falling down, twisting an ankle or pulling a muscle. Click for more Safety Information.
Partnering
We pretend to fight. To drive that home, you will work with a partner, not an opponent. Good partners work together to ensure each other's safety.
It is your job to make your partner look good! If you worry about making yourself look good, you end up looking like a moron. This is a team sport. We teach you to work together with partnering exercises.
Falls
We'll teach you how to fall down without getting hurt. We will teach you all the primary falls to ensure you know the proper way to land to stay safe. Most injuries happen when people land improperly.
We will show you how to avoid twisted ankles and other small injuries by landing properly.
Pretty soon you'll be performing prat falls to entertain your friends and family. People will be amazed at your skills and lack of injury.
Rolls
If you look at the picture on the left, that is what a perfect shoulder roll looks like. The shoulder roll is the most basic of all rolls and is part of your training. Rolling is an excellent means of dispersing the energy of a fall from any height. By learning our methods, you will ensure your safety and look cool at the same time.
You will learn how to perform shoulder rolls, barrel rolls, tiger rolls and more.
Combat
Most of you are here to learn stunt fighting. Well, we give you plenty of that training too. The work is physical and demanding, but it's more fun that you could possibly imagine. If you want to be the best, you must work hard.
